DuBois was alloted a beautiful voice from the start, and what he's made of it is worth citations. Not content to simply fall back on his glorious vocal sound, DuBois always demonstrates that he has analyzed the total score, in order that his stunning talent reflects the composer's and conductor's overall concept.
DuBois' opening the solo work with Comfort Ye, set the stage for this excellent Messiah performance. Later, in Behold, and See, DuBois enjoyed the full benefit of a fluid orchestral backing and the sensitive leadership of Dyck. In turn, the listener was treated to DuBois' elegant interpretation of librettist Charles Jennens' Majestic King James text, by applying weight and substance and care to the powerful words...
